This summer, we have witnessed a great moment in the music history, live on medici.tv from the Lucerne Festival. Claudio Abbado conducted with incredible talent the Mozart Requiem, accompanied by the best cast of interpreters one could possibly dream of (an orchestra made up of the best orchestral musicians from around the world, two pretigious choirs, and four of the best Mozart soloists of the moment). The performance was so uncommonly beautiful that it took fourty seconds to the audience to start applausing after the end of “Lux aeterna”. Fourty seconds during which the camera did not leave Claudio Abbado’s deeply moved face. Let’s watch again those images picturing an extremely rare, almost unique event, probably one of the most beautiful moments captured live since medici.tv’s creation:

On August 8 on medici.tv, Claudio Abbado conducts the Lucerne Festival Orchestra for the opening concert of the Lucerne Festival, focusing this year on the theme of “Faith”. Matching this theme very well is the absolute masterpiece of the sacred repertoire: Mozart’s Requiem, of which Maestro Abbado always give reference renditions… The first part of the concert features Beethoven’s rarer Egmont, which overture is better-known than its scene music.
