August 8 – Lucerne Festival – Claudio Abbado conducts the Mozart Requiem
On August 8 on medici.tv, Claudio Abbado conducts the Lucerne Festival Orchestra for the opening concert of the Lucerne Festival, focusing this year on the theme of “Faith”. Matching this theme very well is the absolute masterpiece of the sacred repertoire: Mozart’s Requiem, of which Maestro Abbado always give reference renditions… The first part of the concert features Beethoven’s rarer Egmont, which overture is better-known than its scene music.

Maestro Abbado’s conducting is always very special – completely musical.
Both Egmont and Mozart Requiem gave me such a deep satisfaction. I was pleased to see Bruno Ganz reciting in Egmont. He is an old-time great actor. Thank you so much for this live performance.
